Wave Design Firm partnered with a first-time novelist to design and build a 3-page WordPress website that reflects their literary voice and professional offerings. The site includes a Book page to spotlight the debut novel, a Blog page for updates and personal insights, and a Services page to promote writing-related services. The final result is a visually appealing and mobile-optimized platform that supports the author’s online presence and creative journey.
The client is a debut author preparing to launch their first novel. As they began building their personal brand as a writer, they needed a website that would serve as both a promotional tool and a storytelling platform—something that felt personal, polished, and purpose-driven.
The client had a clear vision: a clean, engaging author website that highlights their work while remaining easy to navigate. From the start, they provided specific requests regarding layout, structure, and imagery. One technical challenge we encountered was working within the constraints of a limited WordPress hosting plan, which affected both flexibility and plugin options during development.
We kicked off the project with a collaborative discussion to understand the author’s goals, audience, and personal aesthetic. From there, we developed a streamlined site map and sketched a layout focused on clarity, storytelling, and visual balance across the three core pages: Book, Blog, and Services.
The design direction was guided by the author’s selected imagery and a clean, literary-inspired aesthetic. The final mockups emphasized minimalism, elegant typography, and a cohesive color palette that complemented the book’s themes and branding. Careful attention was paid to ensuring readability, responsiveness, and clear calls to action.
The site was built using WordPress, with a custom layout adapted to the limitations of the client’s chosen hosting plan. Despite these constraints, we implemented a responsive design that performs well across devices and maintains visual fidelity to the mockups. The author was provided with a backend walkthrough for future content updates and blogging.
